Philly Officer Dragged By Stolen Car After Stop

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ― Philadelphia police say an officer is recovering after he was dragged several feet by a car that took off from a traffic stop.

Police say his partner fired his gun at the car as the officer clung to the hood Tuesday morning in the city's Germantown section. But the car got away.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

Authorities say the officers had stopped the red Mercedes Benz around 1:30 a.m. They suspected it had been stolen from a parking lot.

But police say the driver took off, as one officer held on to the hood. There were two men and a woman inside.

The officer returned to duty after being treated at a hospital.
