Residents in Scottdale are claiming that police are writing parking tickets that are "nitpicky."

Some Westmoreland County residents say they are fed up with parking tickets they are getting when parking in downtown Scottdale.
Phillip Haddad, an owner of The Table coffee shop, says one of his customers has gotten two tickets in one week and says she can't afford to keep coming back if she's going to get a $10 parking ticket each time. Haddad says that customer isn't alone.
The tickets are for things like parking too close to the curb or having a tire touch a white line.
Angry residents attended last night's borough council meeting.
Councilman Andy Pinskey said council will investigate to make sure no resident is being singled out and also that there are no confrontations.
Borough Manager Barry Whoric said the borough takes resident complaints very seriously and is looking into this matter.
Police, who only write some tickets in the borough, say if people would follow the parking guidelines they wouldn't be getting the tickets.
Most tickets are written by a meter man, whose job is to enforce parking guidelines.
Business owners say their businesses are being hurt when customers have to pay $10 tickets each time they come in over "nitpicky" violations.
Council and borough officials plan to revisit the issue in the future.
