Scottdale Baby's Death Remains Under Investigation

SCOTTDALE (KDKA) ― The death of an 18-month-old baby in Westmoreland County is under investigation.

Scottdale Police say in December Madisyn was being watched by her mother's boyfriend.

The baby was rushed to Excela Health in Mount Pleasant before she was taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

"She had shattered retinas," said Justin Klepsky, the baby's father. "When she was in the hospital, her kidneys and main organs started failing. Her brain swelled so bad that it almost had no more room to swell."

Madisyn died a few days later and the hospital called police to investigate because of the nature of her injuries.

"There wasn't a thing in this world that made me happier than her and for that to be taken away from me," he said.

The district attorney isn't releasing the autopsy results because the investigation is ongoing.
