Charges Filed In Fatal Laughlintown Crash

LIGONIER TWP. (KDKA) ― Ligonier Township Police have charged a man in a fatal accident back in March.

Johnny Blough, 15, of Boswell, was killed in a three-vehicle crash.

The North Star High School student was on his way home from a Britney Spears concert at Mellon Arena with friends at the time.

Brandon Behie, 24, of New Florence, is now facing charges. He was arraigned Friday on charges of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and numerous related charges.

Police say his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

When police arrived at the scene of the crash, Behie was sitting on the ground saying, "I'm going to jail." He told them he had been drinking and hit the cars in front of him.

The accident happened more than seven months ago. Police say in a case involving alcohol, it's important to do a thorough investigation before filing charges.

They say Behie has been cooperative during the course of the investigation.

Johnny Blough is described as an all-American kid. He was on the North Star High School football team.

Those who knew Blough say they are happy to see the charges moving forward, but it doesn't give them closure. Instead, it's reopening the tragedy within their community.

A memorial still stands along Route 30 in Laughlintown where the accident happened.

Behie was released on $50,000 unsecured bond. He faces a preliminary hearing in December.
