Woman Hit By Truck, Robbed After Bingo Game

WASHINGTON, PA (KDKA) ― A woman leaving a bingo game at a Washington County social club was hit by a pickup truck and robbed.

Tracy Savage, 42, was struck at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday at the Jessop Club on Jefferson Avenue.

Her mother, Mary, runs the games. They were walking to the car.

"I unlocked the car. A truck deliberately came up on the sidewalk and hit her - knocked her 10-feet, flat on her back, knocked her out of her shoe," Mary said.

The white Chevy truck driven by a gray-haired man pulled to a stop. Two girls got out and asked Tracy if she was hurt. They then grabbed a briefcase containing the bingo cash and ran.

"She started screaming, 'Call the police!' and she's laying on the ground," she said.

Mary believes the whole thing was a set up.

"They were watching. They knew what was in the briefcase," she said.

Investigators, like Lt. Dan Stanek of the Washington City Police Department, seem to agree.

"They knew that she was the person who was in charge of the money so we feel that it's probably somebody who's at least been paying attention to what's going on down there," Stanek said.

He says it's rare to have these games targeted but they can be easy marks.

"These things let out late at night. It's cash money - there's thousands of dollars leaving there," Stanek said.

Savage was badly bruised and was treated and released from Canonsburg Hospital.

Mary says she's hiring security from now on.

"There'll never be any more money ever brought into the car or brought home or anything," she said.

Washington City police are looking for a white Chevy pickup truck with a silver toolbox in the back.

The driver had gray hair and the two women who were with him were described as white and bi-racial.
