SUV Crash Into Plant In Washington Co. Injures 5

WASHINGTON, PA (KDKA) ― Five people were injured when officials say an SUV crashed into an old Coca-Cola bottling plant overnight in Washington County.

The crash happened on West Maiden Road in Washington around 2:30 a.m.

Officials say first responders found the SUV lodged in the building with all the people trapped inside with injuries.

"Numerous abdominal injuries," said Chief Linn Brookman of the Washington Fire Department. "We understand that one or two people have broken necks, broken legs, broken arms."

Authorities say one of the people hurt in the accident said the SUV tried to make a turn but hit a bump, went airborne, traveled about 30 feet and then crashed through the cinderblock and brick wall.

"EMTs and our firefighters went in through the back hatch of the vehicle and had to literally tear the car apart on the inside to move them around to get them out," said Chief Brookman.

The five victims, two men and three women, were taken to area hospitals for treatment. They are all expected to make a full recovery.
