Person Of Interest In Murders Still At Large

Officials surrounded the Avalon Motor Inn off I-70 early this morning in search of Orlando Guarino

Guarino is a person of interest in a triple murder in Marianna, Washington County

After hours of trying unsuccessfully to reach him, police moved inside the hotel

EIGHTY FOUR (KDKA) ― Police searched a Washington County motel for a person of interest in a triple murder in Marianna; but when they got inside, the man they were looking for was apparently already gone.

A standoff began around 7am at the Avalon Motor Inn off Interstate 70 in Eighty Four where police believed Orlando Guarino might have been staying.

Police have been searching for Guarino for questioning in connection with a triple murder in Marianna.

A family member found the bodies of Guarino's wife, Ashley, 22, and children, Orlando, 11-months, and Druex, 2, around 11:30pm Wednesday.

According to the coroner the mother and children had been suffocated.

State police quickly identified Orlando Guarino, 38, as a "person of interest" in the case.

He and his wife had recently separated.

Guarino was believed to be driving a 1994, 2-door white GMC pickup truck.

A vehicle matching that description was found in the motel's parking lot early this morning.

Though police have been on the scene for hours trying to coax Guarino out of the motel, they tell KDKA that they have gotten no response from him.

Police moved inside the motel shortly after 11am.

Shortly before noon, authorities confirmed that Guarino was not there; but they believe he had been inside at some point.
