Meadows Casino Marks Milestone With Ceremony

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County marked a milestone today with a special ceremony.

The Meadows held a special invitation-only 'beam-raising ceremony' this morning to mark the progress of construction to their permanent casino facility.

They raised the final steel beam into place at the top of what is going to be the permanent structure. Now, construction will focus on enclosing the building with walls and a roof as well as plumbing and electricity.

Officials with the Meadows say the ceremony also marked the one-year anniversary of the opening of their temporary facility that now holds the slots casino.

The permanent facility is a $175 million project.

Officials say that facility will be ready to open in the spring of 2009.

Stay with KDKA for more on this event.
