Consumers Still Spending Money On Valentine's Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Although money is tight for many people these days, shoppers were out grabbing up gifts for Valentine's Day.

The florist industry is aware of the tightness of budgets and is adjusting.

"You can go from a simple $4 or $5 rose, a single rose which can be very beautiful especially right in the mouth," said Joanne Zervos, from 1-800-FLOWERS.

On Penn Avenue in the Strip District, business was good.

"You can't skimp on your loved ones – that's too important," Gayle Lucas from Carrick said.

There's a waiting list for Valentine packages at the Renaissance Hotel and it comes with free access to the temporary Chapel of Love in the August Wilson room where a judge will be presiding.
