Port Authority Fare Hikes In Effect

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The start of 2008 means a new fare hike for the Port Authority.

At midnight, fares for bus, trolley and incline rides went up a quarter to $2 one way.

There's also new $2 a day car rental tax.

The 10 percent alcohol tax and car rental taxes are expected to generate $30 million a year to help bail out the cash-strapped Port Authority.
