Man With Suspicious Package Arrested At World Bank

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Police in Washington are investigating a suspicious package at the World Bank headquarters, two blocks from the White House.

District of Columbia police Officer Israel James says no explosives have been found. However, police are still checking for hazardous materials.

The bank says in a statement that a man approached a security officer at the 18th Street entrance at about 12:45 p.m. with a suspicious package. Police were notified, and the man was taken into custody.

The bank says its employees are being asked to stay put until the incident is resolved. The building has not been evacuated.
