Pizza Delivery Man Killed In Braddock
by Bob Allen
BRADDOCK (KDKA) ―
Police are still looking for the gunman who shot and killed a pizza deliveryman in Braddock last night.
It happened near the intersection of Camp Avenue and Second Street.
It's an area that neighbors say desperately needs more police patrols.
Police say moments after 36-year-old Christopher Williams delivered two pizzas to a home, someone shot him in the head on the sidewalk.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified told KDKA's Bob Allen that he heard two gunshot and came outside when the ambulance arrived. "It's senseless," she said. "This is a guy, he's trying to make a living and how much, if it was a robbery, how much money could he have possibly lost his life for. You know, being a delivery guy."
Williams worked for Vocelli Pizza in Swissvale and the county police may talk to the company about offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
Neighbors worry about drug activity and random gunfire near the corner of 2nd street and Camp Avenue.
"I've had friends over and we have heard gunshots. I had a friend who hit the floor because we don't know if one is going to come through the window or what's going to happen," said the unidentified neighbor.
So far, no one has been arrested.
Police say they do not have a good description of the suspect.
Meanwhile, the Vocelli Pizza has issued a written statement offering condolences to the family but the company has not said if they will stop making deliveries in the area.
