West View Soldier Killed In Iraq

(KDKA) A National Guardsman from West View was killed Thursday in Ramadi, Iraq, when his vehicle rolled over after being hit by a rocket.

Military officials say Sergeant First Class Brent Adams, of West View, was driving the truck when the convoy he was in was attacked.

He died a short time later at a local medical center.

Adams was a member of Headquarters Company, Second Brigade Combat Team, based in Washington.

His wife, Marilyn, says he was about halfway through a year-long tour of duty in Iraq, where he supervised mechanics who repair military vehicles.

She says her husband worried more about the soldiers he oversaw than he did about himself.

Adams was a 1983 graduate of Hempfield High School in Landisville, and a 1995 graduate of Indiana University of
Pennsylvania.

Adams is also survived by a four-year-old son, Daniel, his parents and a sister.

Memorial services were not immediately scheduled.
