'The Bus' Throws Bash For Steelers Fans

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Retired Steeler Jerome Bettis has done a lot for Pittsburgh, and Friday night, he threw a party.

The party was thrown at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Downtown until 2 a.m. in the Allegheny Ballroom as a sign of appreciation for the fans.

"I just want to come out and show the people here that I am still committed to them," Bettis said. "I'm not here on the team, but I'm still here.

"This gives everybody an opportunity to see me, a chance to shake a hand or two and just let them know how much I thank them."

Bettis is the NFL's fifth-leading rusher.

He closed his 13-year career two months ago after Pittsburgh beat Seattle at Ford Field in his hometown of Detroit.

Bettis is scheduled to throw the first pitch at the Tigers' home opener, at the Tigers' Comerica Park, adjacent to where the Steelers won the Super Bowl, when the Tigers will will host the World Series champion Chicago White Sox Monday afternoon.
