North Allegheny Teacher Resigns Amid Controversy

McCANDLESS TWP. (KDKA) ― A local high school teacher is under investigation for allegedly having a tryst with one of her students.

Julie Stimmel, 28, is now no longer a teacher at North Allegheny High School.

Stimmel is suspected of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Until now, North Allegheny officials have declined comment but at Wednesday's school board meeting, the school's superintendent acknowledged what had already been well known around the high school.

Stimmel was listed on the school board's agenda as resigning for personal reasons.

She started teaching under her maiden name of Julie Lawrence.

Stimmel got married last year.

There's no comment from McCandless Police as to whether or not they are investigating this alleged scandal or whether or not they will file charges in the case.

Stimmel has also been unavailable for comment.
