Mother Of 3 Larimer Fire Victims Talks To Police
by Alison Morris
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The mother of three children who were killed in last week's row house fire in Lincoln-Larimer met with police today just two days after her childrens' funeral.
In all, five children were killed in the fire last Tuesday.
The investigation into the deadly fire was put on hold until after the burials and now has officially resumed.
This morning Shakita Mangham and her attorney Jim Ecker met for an hour with a homicide detective and an arson investigator at Police Headquarters on the North Side.
No charges were filed.
"She has been very cooperative and she just wants to get home with her other child," said Ecker. "As we speak now, there are no charges that I know of against her. Obviously that's something that could happen in the future. Only God can predict the future. Certainly right now the only thing I'm worried about is just getting her home and getting her rest. She's a very distraught young lady."
Seven children were in the house at the time of the fire.
Those children belonged to Mangham and another woman, Furaha Love.
The mothers reportedly left the children in the house and two 8-year-old children started the fire with matches.
Initially one of the mothers said they left the children with a 17-year-old baby-sitter, but police investigations have not turned up anyone meeting that babysitter description.
Love was questioned by police last week.
No charges have yet been filed against either of the women in this case.
