Gun Jams During Armed Robbery In Uniontown
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) ―
Two clerks at a convenience store in Uniontown, Fayette County, had a close call during an armed robbery.
Bill Campbell, a clerk at Byers Market, says the gunman tried to fire his weapon three separate times but it jammed on Saturday night.
"Mary, she took off and she got into the back room there and closed the door. About the time she closed the door, I seen him pull the gun up and make it click," Campbell recalled. "And that's when he came back to me and I was standing about right there and that's when he put the gun on me, you know, demanded the money again and that's when he fired ... I'm pretty sure I heard two clicks."
He gave the robber the all money out of the cash register and the store's money box, which police found the next day behind the store.
They also recovered a live round from a .22 caliber gun.
The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, about 5' 6" tall, weighing 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black quilted 3/4 length coat with a hood and a red bandanna over his face.
