Mobile Classrooms Blessed At St. Ursula School

The blessing comes as part of the kick off to Catholic Schools Week.

ALLISON PARK (KDKA) ― It was a new beginning today at St. Ursula School in Allison Park where they kicked off Catholic Schools Week by blessing mobile classrooms.

The school sustained major water damage during the week of Christmas, and the students have been attending class at a nearby parish. But contractors have been working to get modular classrooms ready as a temporary alternative.

"We are preparing the site for 156 students for Monday with modular classrooms," said contractor Scott Jones. "The school was flooded with water Christmas Eve and they weren't allowed to reoccupy it so we had to come up with an alternative for the children."

Those mobile classrooms were blessed today as part of a Mass for Catholic Schools Week.

Officials with the school say a water leak caused the severe damage.

"It came down through the first floor, down into the cafeteria, damaged plaster, floor tile and walls," added Jones.

Meanwhile, Jones says there has been no timetable set on when classes will be able to resume inside the school building, but repairs will continue.
