Rock Removal Project On Route 28 Underway

HARMAR TWP. (KDKA) ― Crews are trying to shore up rockslide problems on Route 28 in Harmar Township.

Today, a construction company started a major excavation project along a rockslide-prone stretch of the roadway.

Crews will repel down the hillside, knocking down loose material.

They'll also take down the trees and carve large plateaus into the hillside, which they say will help stop the slides in the future.

About 60,000 drivers use Route 28 daily.
