PennDOT To Reopen Rt. 28 Lanes During Rush Hour
HARMAR TWP. (KDKA) ―
After several days of long lines of traffic during the morning commute, PennDOT says it has a plan to alleviate traffic bottlenecks due to a rock slide clean-up in Harmar Township.
For days, a barricade separated the right-hand lane of Route 28.
However, that barricade will be moved late tonight, and by tomorrow morning's rush hour, the southbound traffic will be back to two lanes.
PennDOT is in the process of bringing down unstable rocks before they come crashing down themselves.
Eventually, crews will create a catch basin area to keep rocks off of the road surface.
Both lanes of Route 28 will be open southbound until 9 a.m. daily.
Then crews will work until 4 or 5 p.m. to clean up the rocks.
Then they will reopen the both lanes for the afternoon commute until they get the mess cleaned up.
