President Greeted By Pittsburgh Welcome Wagon
MOON TWP. (KDKA) ―
When President Bush arrived in town earlier this morning he was welcomed to town by several local Pittsburghers.
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl was one of those Pittsburghers in line to greet the President as he came to speak at Saint Vincent College's commencement ceremony.
Also, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato was a part of the group that bid farewell when he left after his speech.
Pitt graduate, Dan Wiesman, of Oakland, received the Presidential Volunteer Award when Air Force One landed this morning at the 911th Airlift Wing in Moon Township.
President Bush was also greeted by Susan Wardezak, whose son was wounded just this past weekend while serving in Iraq.
Wardezak said she asked the President to look after her son's Calvary.
"I asked him to look in on the First Cavalry," she told KDKA. "My son was injured on Sunday in Iraq. He has a concussion, and some issues with his sight in his right eye. I asked him to check on the Calvary, to make sure we had enough equipment."
"I told him that I wouldn't want his job any more than I would want a soldiers job. It's a tough job," she added.
