PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― In just a few days, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium will officially introduce the public to two new editions and their brand-new digs.

The zoo is putting its finishing touches on the "Waters Edge" - the new polar bears' exhibit.

The exhibit features a 150,000 gallon salt water tank.

The polar bears' home lets visitors get up close and personal.

"And they're right there. I think that's what makes the difference. It's not you're looking way across at the bears; the bears are right there in front of you," said Dr. Barbara Baker, President and CEO of the zoo and aquarium.

Visitors can take a stroll through Pier Town, which replicates an artic fishing village with facades of of shops, a seafood shop and even a cannery.

The new exhibit officially opens Wednesday, November 22.
