City Salutes Its Champions
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Downtown Pittsburgh is a sea of black and gold as thousands of Steelers fans flooded the streets to honor the Super Bowl XL Champions with a victory parade and rally.
Though the parade didn't get underway until 11am at Mellon Arena, some fans braved the cold and started lining up along the route early this morning.
Hours before the start of the parade, hundreds of fans clad in Steeler scarves, hats and just about everything else had already secured their spots to show their support for the team.
"(The) parade will be a great opportunity for this region to honor this amazing team and the Rooney family for bringing the Vince Lombardi trophy back to the City of Champions," Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato said.
Steeler players, coaches and owners will participate in the parade, which will continue through the city before winding up at Gateway Center where a Steelers Victory Rally will take place between the Hilton Hotel and the State Office Building.
