Police: Cranberry Man Hid Mother's Body In Freezer

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) ― A Butler County man accused of hiding his mother's body in a freezer last August is headed for trial.

Phillip Royer Jr., of Cranberry, reportedly told police he put his 90-year-old mother's body in the freezer after she died so he could continue to collect her Social Security and pension checks.

He and his mother lived together at a house on Vandivort Drive.

Royer never actually collected any of his mother's retirement money since she had only been dead for three days before police discovered her body.

The coroner's office determined the woman died from natural causes.
