Penguins Extend Winning Streak In Florida
Final Score: Penguins 3, Panthers 1
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) ―
Ty Conklin and the Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak during a 3-1 decision over Florida.
Conklin is unbeaten in eight starts this season after making 17 of his 27 saves in the final period. Conklin lost his shutout when Gregory Campbell took a shot that squirted between the goaltender's legs with 4:09 remaining.
The Penguins did all their scoring during a 3:06 span of the second period. Sidney Crosby set up Petr Sykora's power-play goal midway through the period before notching his 18th of the season just 76 seconds later.
George Laraque made it 3-0, more than enough scoring for the Penguins to extend their longest winning streak in nine years to seven games.
Tomas Vokoun was lifted after the Penguins' three-goal flurry.
Vokoun made 20 saves in the Panthers' fifth lossĀ in six games.
