Hunt Is On For 2nd Suspected Parkway Rock Thrower

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― After more than two years of searching, police arrested a man who admitted to throwing rocks and bricks onto the Parkway West last week, but another incident late Saturday night has now left drivers anxious and police searching for another suspect.

Police say that this is the first time that two vehicles have been hit by the same object.

Officials report that the object, a rock, was thrown about a half mile south of the Green Tree exit.

Investigators say the rock struck both a taxi cab traveling inbound and a Toyota Camry traveling outbound. The taxi driver was not injured; however, a man traveling in the Camry sustained cuts to his face, officials added.

Police say Mary Pucci, of Carnegie, was driving the taxi, and David Cosnek and Margaret Cosnek, both of Coraopolis were in the Camry when the rock struck the vehicle.

Authorities conducted an active search on Saturday night, but no arrests were made.

Now, police are wondering if this is the case of a copycat or if it's just a coincidence.

"It's very possible, maybe it is a copycat. It might just be a coincidence, somebody else throwing rocks," says Lt. Chad Rannigan, of the Green Tree Police. "But, this is, to my knowledge, the first time we've had multiple vehicles basically at the same incident. Normally, it was just one vehicle."

The investigation continues.

Meanwhile, State Police say Jeffrey Angelo Ramous, 49, admitted to throwing 100 rocks and bricks over a two-year period on the same highway. He was arrested last week.

He faces several charges, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and risking a catastrophe. Ramous was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
