Grandmother Seeks Answers In Nyia Page Murder

BRADDOCK (KDKA) ― It's been nearly two days since police found the body of one year old Nyia Page just a few blocks from her First Street home in Braddock.

Now, her grandmother is speaking out on what happened and the life of little Nyia.

Marianne Page described what it was like when she first learned Nyia was missing on Saturday morning.

"My heart was heavy," said Page. "I cried from the time I left my job to home."

Page and her family took to the streets near Nyia's home desperately looking for the little girl.

"We looked in abandoned houses and garages to help look for Nyia but we were unable to find her," said Page.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner ruled Nyia's death a homicide.

There are still no arrests in Nyia's murder and that leaves many unanswered question and a lot of unresolved emotions.

"She was a fun loving baby," said Page. "She liked to dance, listen to music. She had the prettiest smile with her dimples."

Page did not want to comment on the arrest of Nyia's father, William Page, on unrelated charges.

Those charges are connected to a sexual assault on a 6 year old boy.

Meanwhile, people in the neighborhood have made a makeshift memorial to Nyia in the area where she was found dead.

So far, no one has been charged in Nyia's death.

William Page has a hearing on Wednesday.
