Police say a 16-year-old boy from North Carolina is in custody accused of killing a deli clerk in Mt. Oliver during a robbery over the weekend.
Jamal Mouzaffar, 28, was found shot to death on the floor of his uncle's store, the A & E Deli Food Mart on Brownsville Road on Sunday morning.
Today police announced the arrest of Eric Hancock, 16, of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Investigators say Hancock was visiting relatives in the area and staying at a home along Frederick Street in Pittsburgh.
After receiving numerous tips, police issued an arrest warrant for Hancock last night. They took him into custody a short time later at a home in Duquesne.
Hancock is now facing charges including homicide and robbery.
Mouzaffar, a native of Syria, was in staying with family in the US to receive medical treatment and a new prosthetic leg.
"He came to this country for help, and you go home not breathing. It doesn't make sense," the victim's aunt, Marcy Mouzaffer told KDKA earlier this week.
Tonight, she said she wants to focus on saying goodbye to her nephew, but she also wants justice for his murder.
"I'm happy that this person is caught, but right now, I don't want any of my thoughts to go towards this person because it's hate," says Mouzaffar. "Once my nephew is laid to rest, then my thoughts will be nothing but geared towards him, and making him pay for the rest of his life."
