Slots Casino Coming Soon To Washington Co.
WASHINGTON COUNTY (KDKA) ―
In a few weeks, Pittsburghers won't have to drive to Erie or out of state to play slots. Next month, the Meadows Racetrack will open its temporary casino with more than 1,700 machines in Washington County.
The casino will officially open to the public on Tuesday, June 5 after two days of testing on June 1 and June 3. That testing will not be for the general public. It will be by invitation only.
The test runs are supervised by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. They are used make sure the casino is ready to open officially.
Proceeds on the testing days will benefit two charities, Washington Hospital and the Washington food bank.
In all, there will be over 1,700 slot machines in operation at the temporary structure.
The permanent casino will also house horse-racing operations.
It is expected to be completed in early 2009.
