Search For Greene Co. Girl Ends For Now
DUNKARD TWP. (KDKA) ―
It's day five and there's still no sign of a 12 year girl who disappeared in Greene County.
Gabrielle Bechen was last seen riding her ATV on Tuesday morning.
The search continued Saturday but it appears the intensity of the search is diminishing.
Saturday's search was just as intense as day one.
Two helicopters, search dogs, ATV's took part in the search.
Over 100-volunteers spent their weekend searching, hoping, but they still haven't found any clues.
As of 6 p.m. Saturday, the search was called off.
"At this point the law enforcement search will still be continuing," said State Trooper Joseph Christy of Pennsylvania State Police. "However, we will not be eliciting help from the volunteers."
The volunteers covered a 4-square mile near Bobtown, and they're confident Gabby's not in there.
Nevertheless, they set out on foot and saddled up on quads and horseback.
"I'm a parent also," said Mark Hixenbaugh of Gerard's Fort. "If that was my child out there, I would be worried. And can't imagine what they're going through. I would want everybody to help out as much as possible to look for this girl or my son if he was lost".
State Police say their search will continue as they get leads and calls about Gabrielle.
However, it does not necessarily mean they'll be out every day searching the woods.
