Probe Nearly Over In Case Of Bombed Pizza Man

PITTSBURGH (AP) ― US Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan says investigators will meet in Pittsburgh today to discuss the investigation into the death of an Erie pizza deliveryman who was killed when a bomb locked onto his neck exploded.

Buchanan tells The Associated Press that the investigation is almost over.

No one has been charged in the death of 46-year-old Brian Wells, which occurred shortly after he robbed a bank on August 28th, 2003.

Authorities have never said whether they believe Wells was an innocent victim or part of an elaborate plot that went awry.

They found a detailed note in his car about what to do with the bank money, and how he was to travel to various locations for clues about how to unlock the bomb collar.

Wells' family is convinced he was just a victim.
