'Major Development' In Erie Collar Bomb Case

US Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan has scheduled a news conference for this afternoon in Erie to "announce a major development in the investigation."

LIVE WEBCAST: You can watch today's news conference live on KDKA.com starting at 1:30pm

ERIE (KDKA) ― Nearly four years after a pizza deliveryman from Erie robbed a bank and died with a collar bomb strapped around his neck, investigators may be ready to announce an arrest.

Brian Wells died in front of police when the bomb strapped to his body exploded on August 28, 2003 in Erie.

Now US Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan has scheduled a news conference for this afternoon in Erie to "announce a major development in the investigation."

During the news conference, authorities are expected to announce charges against Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong.

The woman's attorney, Lawrence D'Ambrosio, told the Associated Press that his client, who is already in jail, has been notified that she may be charged in the case. According to the AP, a federal detailer lists charges including bank robbery as well as conspiracy and felony weapons charges.

Diehl-Armstrong, who is currently behind bars for killing her boyfriend, was linked to the collar-bombing case because her boyfriend's body was found in the freezer of a home near a TV tower where Wells made his final delivery.

Today's announcement is scheduled for 1:30pm.

Stay with KDKA for more on this developing story. We will have a news crew in Erie today to bring all the latest details on the case.
