Student Charged In Connection With Teen's Death
NEW CASTLE (AP) ―
Lawrence County prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy on drug possession charges in connection with the death of a 16-year-old female classmate.
Sixteen-year-old Erica Million died Sunday of what authorities believe was an overdose of the painkiller oxycodone.
Her father has said Erica got the pills last week from another student at New Castle High School.
He does not believe his daughter meant to harm herself.
Police have charged a high school sophomore with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
The boy's name has not been released.
Prosecutors accuse the boy of giving Erica the drug.
District Attorney John Bongivengo says if toxicology tests reveal Erica's death was caused by an overdose, he will charge the boy as an adult with third-degree murder.
