Allegheny County Police Seek Elderly Man's Killer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― An elderly man who used a walker was found shot to death in Baldwin.

Now Allegheny County Police are trying track down his killer.

A train conductor spotted 86-year-old Edward Loggins' body lying along the railroad tracks parallel to Route 837.

He was shot once in the head, police say.

Loggins worked for U.S. Steel for 42 years and after he retired, he often visited the USX Tower to visit old friends.

But he never made it there on Thursday. He left his apartment in Highland Park and caught the bus to the McDonald's on Smithfield Street where he was last seen alive.

"He was shot where he was found," Allegheny County Police Assist. Supt. James Morton said.

Police suspect he was robbed. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Allegheny County Police.
