East End Rape Suspect Facing More Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Last month police arrested a suspect in a series of rapes in several of the city's East End neighborhoods; now authorities say DNA has linked the East Liberty man to more attacks.

Keith Wood, 49, has been held in the Allegheny County Jail on a $1 million bond since his February 13th arrest for allegedly breaking into a Forest Hills woman's home and raping her in July of 2000.

At the time of his arrest, police said they believed Wood was the man who became known as the "East End Rapist" – raping six women in the city's eastern neighborhoods and suburbs from 1988 through 2001.

Now, authorities say DNA has linked Wood to four additional rapes – two in the city, one in Swissvale and another in Edgewood.

Wood will be arraigned on the new charges tonight.
