Graffiti Vandal To Face Trial On Dozens Of Charges

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A Highland Park man who's accused of causing more than half a million dollars worth of damage all over the city with a can of spray paint is heading to trial to face about 100 charges.

When detectives arrested Daniel Montano, 21, last March, they called him the "king of graffiti."

According to investigators, Montano – using variations of his tag "MFONE" – vandalized 100 locations around the city.

In court today, his attorneys waived Montano's preliminary hearing.

Montano must now appear before a judge for his arraignment.

In addition to some 90 felony and misdemeanor charge, Montano is now facing nine additional criminal mischief charges.

In the meantime, the criminal case is now in the hands of the Allegheny County district attorney.
