Residents Help Raise Funds For Injured Soldier

CORAOPOLIS (KDKA) ― Over the past few months many local people have joined together to help a soldier who was severely injured while serving in Iraq.

Army Specialist James Fair, 25, of Coraopolis, was completely blinded after a bomb detonation back in November of 2003. He lost both his hands and was left with shrapnel throughout his body causing injuries to his right leg and as well as a traumatic brain injury.

Today another local group is planning to hold a Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for Fair's family.

The dinner is being held at the Coraopolis VFW Post #402 and is being sponsored by their Ladies' Auxiliary.

It was during the Home & Garden Show at the Convention Center that the organizers of that event joined together with Duquesne Light, Homes For Our Troops, and thousands of Pittsburghers to raise money to build Fair a new home.

Plans continue to build him that new house.
