Local Travelers Will See More Security

The TSA says air passengers will not be allowed to bring any liquid of any kind on board with them

by Alison Morris
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― In light of a foiled terror plot in the UK that has raised the domestic threat level, airline passengers at Pittsburgh International Airport can expect to see much tighter security today.

The US government has raised the security threat level to red – its highest level – for commercial flights coming into the country from the UK; likewise, the threat level for all commercial flights in the US is now at the orange, the "high risk" level.

Passengers should expect heightened security as they make their way to the airport; and they're advised to allow extra time.

Because of the threat, the Transportation Security Administration is making some changes in their security screenings.

Since the UK threat apparently involved plans to use liquid chemical stored in carry-on luggage, airline passengers will not be permitted to bring any liquids on the plane today.

According to the TSA, no beverages will be allowed on airplanes. In addition from barring any liquids of any kind on airplanes, the TSA says hair gels, creams, lotions, toothpaste and any other types of substances will not be permitted on planes.
