Tech Minute: Laptops Vs. Netbooks

By BRIAN COOLEY, CNET Editor At Large
SAN FRANCISCO (CNET) ― Low cost laptops and netbooks there all the rage in computers right now, and there are a few things to know about the difference between them and what you should look for.

A low cost laptop is usually defined as costing under $700. They have a regular size screen, full size keyboard, and can run just about any software you put on them and can get to anything on the Internet.

A netbook is like a really small laptop: Ideal to have with you all the time, whenever you want to go online, and using a regular size keyboard with a decent size screen.  They cost less, weigh less, and boot up faster than a traditional laptop.

On the other hand, you wouldn't want to make one your only computer because they're a little limited on processing power and hard drive space.
