Style Sisters: Mall Makeovers
ROSS PARK MALL (KDKA) ―
When you head to the mall to shop, you're probably thinking more about the clothes you're going to buy than the ones you're wearing.
But the Style Sisters say you can still look stylish while you shop!
KDKA Anchor Kristine Sorensen went along as they did two on the spot mall makeovers at Ross Park Mall.
Wearing flip flops, shorts and a baggy t-shirt, Debbie agreed to be made over from head-to-toe.
The Style Sisters went to work looking all over Macy's for something comfortable and fashionable to transform their volunteer.
Tip #1: Wear Neutral Wedge HeelsNeutral wedge heels elongate the leg and match anything essential for your summer wardrobe.
Tip #2: Don't Hide Your BodyFor Debbie, they chose stretchy shorts and they give her definition. The Style Sisters say everybody has a shape, so show it off. Debbie likes the comfort of her crocheted top.
Tip #3: Streamline Your JewelryDebbie's jewelry is simple, but modern, replacing her multiple gold chains. They left one necklace, added a pair of gold hoops and a chunky bangle bracelet.
With make-up from Bobbi Brown and a flat iron by Style Sister Shannon, Debbie is a new woman. It only took one hour and Debbie loves her new look.
Next the Style Sisters move on to Genna, who agrees to give up her flip flops, yoga pants and t-shirt for some style advice.
After pulling piles of clothes, the Style Sisters learn what works and doesn't work for Genna's figure.
Once they pull the perfect pieces, Genna goes glam in black and white, but is still comfortable enough to tote her 1-year-old.
Tip #4: Go Black And WhiteThe Style Sisters give Genna the layered look. They suggest to keep your bottom base piece neutral because it will go with everything. In this case, they used a white tank. You also want it to be thin and slim fitting. The jeans are stretchy and although they're too long, they can be hemmed. The shoes are black with a basket weave wedge and a classy buckle. But the accessories tie it all together with Lucite bangles and a scarf.
Tip #5: Try A ScarfThe Style Sisters say a scarf can be used in your hair, around the neck or even as a belt and can punch up any outfit. Don't be intimidated just try it!
Genna says her new outfit is just as comfortable!
As far as prices go, Debbie's outfit cost $230 and Genna's cost $265 including jewelry and shoes. Macy's gave them the outfits as a gift for being part of the story.
The overall take home tip is that it takes a little time to put together a stylish look for everyday shopping or errands and it will give you the confidence to make you really shine!
