Look Like A Million Bucks... Even On A Budget
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Wish you could add some designer duds to your closet without having to break the bank? The Style Sisters say you can look like a million dollars even if you're on a budget!
The key to saving big bucks on your next shopping spree all depends on where you shop.
Bargain-hunters can hit pay dirt at such discount stores as Gabriel Brothers and Marshalls.
"I buy almost all of my stuff at these kinds of stores and my sisters do as well for us, our husbands, our children, our clients," explains Style Sister Elizabeth Casey.
Casey says shoppers can find designer clothes and accessories at drastically reduced prices. She found a designer dress that retailed for at least $150 on sale at Gabes for just $2.99!
"A lot of times," Casey explains, "the large retailers -- the high end department stores overbuy because they're buying nationally. They then need to make room on their floor and instead of clearancing and saling, they send it back to the vendor.
"The vendor takes a small hit when they get it returned to them," Casey adds, "and to recoup some of their loss, they sell it to the stores like Marshalls."
Shannon Kosko recommends stocking up on your trendy accessories like sunglasses, shoes and jewelry at these discount stores.
"The trends come and go so fast you don't want to spend a lot of money on them!"
Since some discount stores sell merchandise that is either defective or irregular, it pays to check the tag and look for quality. Be sure purses, belts and shoes are real leather, the seams are strong and the zippers work smoothly.
Also, if you find something you love like a designer suit but it is a bit too big; the Style Sisters say you might want to consider buying it anyway. If you're saving hundreds of dollars on the suit, it could pay off to shell out $30 or so for alterations!
