Style Sisters: Top 4 Fall Fashion Must-Haves
(KDKA)
With every change of season, new fashion trends are ushered into the mainstream.
For most people, buying a brand new wardrobe to stay hip every time the weather changes is just not an affordable option.
But the Style Sisters are giving their top four must-haves for the fall season.
The sisters hit Macy's at Ross Park Mall to show us their favorite fall fashion trends.
Allison's Pick: Sweater DressAllison says sweater dresses are her fall must-have because they are comfortable and are forgiving for full-figured women.
"It's covering that area. You can see the thinnest part of your leg," she says. "It contours your leg, so regardless of size, you can see the shape."
Allison says to pair a sweater dress with skinny, straight leg jeans, leggings or tights.
And she has some advice for figuring out which dress goes with which bottom.
"Personally, I have a fingertip rule," Allison says. "If it's below the fingertip, and getting into personal preference, I would say it's fair for tights. But above the fingertips, I'd go with jeans."
The sweater dress is a big no-no with baggy pants. So she says to stick to something tight on the bottom.
Anne's Pick: The Cropped JacketAnne says the cropped jacket is also comfortable and flattering for all figures.
"It gives you the kind of retro classic look of late 50's, early 60s, but today they're more modern," she says.
To wear a cropped jacket with style, Anne says you have to let the shirt you're wearing underneath show.
"Don't worry about the shirt being as short as or shorter than jacket,' she says "You want to see underneath. It shows off the outfit."
Elizabeth's Pick: The Wide-Leg TrouserElizabeth says what makes this season's trouser new is that it's well-fitted from the waist down and gets wide just at the bottom.
"It's kind of a feminine nod to menswear," Elizabeth says.
She says the pants come in both high- or low-waist styles and go well with a fitted or tailored shirt.
Shannon's Pick: The Ankle BootShannon says you can wear the ankle boot dressy, with a dress or skirt, or with any kind of pant.
"The ankle boot, also known as the bootie, is the cross between a pump and a boot," she adds.
Ankle boots come in all styles from cowboy to elegant to rocker. Also, she says they're practical.
"In the winter, you can wear them with socks, whereas if wearing pumps, you may not want to wear a sock with it," she says. "So in cold weather, it's going to keep your feet warm, but it's not as cumbersome or as big as a regular boot."
And their final tip for fall fashion, the Style Sisters say another big trend is the color purple in a deep, jewel-toned purple.
