Tomlin: No Decision On Clark Yet

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― When it comes to whether or not Steelers safety Ryan Clark will play against Denver, head coach Mike Tomlin said it'll be a game time decision.

At his weekly press conference, Tomlin said the Steelers' medical team has cleared him to play, but the Steelers have not decided whether he should, and Clark has not weighed in on whether he is willing.

Clark nearly died of complications from playing at Mile High Stadium in 2007 because of a sickle cell trait in his blood. He had to have his spleen and gall bladder removed.

Tomlin said Clark has an additional health condition that aggravated the problem. He said numerous players with the sickle cell trait have played in Denver without any incident.

If this is any indication of whether or not Clark will play, backup safety Ryan Mundy did practice with the team for the first time yesterday.

The Steelers play the Broncos Monday night at 8:30 p.m.

Tomlin said Denver will be a tough team to beat, not just because of the great success of quarterback Kyle Orton and their offense, but also because the Broncos currently have the number one rated defense in the NFL.

Also today, Tomlin gave details from the injury report, the most notable being linebacker Lawrence Timmons.

He's listed as questionable for Monday night. Timmons missed practice yesterday due to a right ankle injury suffered in the Week 7 win over Minnesota.
