Steelers Hit The Practice Field For Training Camp

LATROBE (KDKA) ― The first practice of training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe brought some new faces but was also missing some old ones.

Troy Polamalu, unable to participate because of a pulled hamstring, was relegated to watching.

"It's tough but you know. Unfortunately I felt I dealt with the situation recently so it's - you really can't get used to it, you try not to get used to it," Polamalu told reporters at camp.

Casey Hampton certainly isn't used to running. The Pro Bowler did sprints this morning away from his teammates - banished to a lower practice field until he sheds some pounds.

Brett Keisel thinks his teammate will be OK.

"Today I saw him over there - he was running the whole practice so I'm sure the weight's going to come running off, " Keisel said.

Making their first appearance at a Steeler training camp were the first and second round picks - Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed.

"Teaching me the game, teaching me the in and outs about being a receiver and I think that's a great thing," Sweed said.
