LATROBE (KDKA) ― Today is day two of Steelers training camp and the players are in for a very tough workout especially with the mix of the heat and the humidity with the twice-a-day practices.

Players were going for the water as temperatures climbed into the 80s today.

A lot of tough drills were going on today.

There was also a lot of special teams work this morning.

The heat may actually be helping nose tackle Casey Hampton, who was out running laps and more in an effort to lose weight and get back into shape.

As far as the heat goes, right now most of the player's attitudes about the heat, was what heat?

"This is good temperatures. It's not that hot. In Mississippi at 10 or 11:00 it's probably 90 degrees. So this is good."

"It's going to get hot today. It feels like it but so far it's been great. I mean I looked at the forecast and it was around the 80s all week, so we'll take that any day."

Fans heading to training camp should make sure to bring along plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

There are few shady spots near all the action.

Meanwhile, the Steelers' first pre-season game is now less than two weeks away.

It happens Friday, August 8th at Heinz Field against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game will be seen on KDKA-TV.

Pregame coverage starts at 7 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
