PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― It's a big day across the Steelers Nation as fans get ready to cheer on their favorite team in their first preseason game of the year tonight.

The Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles kick off at 7:30 p.m. and fan excitement is building.

The smell of barbeque will fill the North Shore as the parking lots will open to tailgaters at 2:30 p.m.

Starting tonight and all season long, the Steelers say the they want their fans out in full force.

"Toughest schedule in the league, so we're going to need our fans to be as loud and enthusiastic as ever," Steelers President, Art Rooney II, said.

But, as part of the NFL's new code of fan conduct, team officials say they also want Steelers fans to considerate of others just like them.

The team says it's all a matter of PRIDE:
  • Positive Heinz Field Experience
  • Respect Each Other
  • Integrity
  • Dignified Behavior
  • Excellence On and Off the Field

"They should be aware of fan courtesy, and aware of being respectful to other fans around them and being aware of the responsible use of alcohol."

Meanwhile, the team says fans can also expect some changes at Heinz Field this season.

"One of the things that the fans are going to enjoy is that we've increased the size of out scoreboard by about 3 feet in height," said Steelers spokesperson Dave Lockett. "So they're actually going to get to see a little more when they're looking up at the scoreboard."

As well as a new smoking policy and some small increases in concession prices.
