Final Preps Underway For Steelers Training Camp

LATROBE (KDKA) ― Black and gold fever is sweeping across the area as the Steelers head back to Latrobe for the 42nd annual training camp at Saint Vincent College this weekend.

The players report on Sunday and last-minute preparations are underway on campus.

The camp is still undergoing its transformation with new refrigerators already on campus and televisions set to come soon, but Friday was bed change-over day. That means 100 or so single student beds were replaced by doubles, queens and an occasional king to make the Steelers comfortable during their stay.

"We have a whole room of Gatorade and a whole room of water. Everyday we go in and clean up after them, make sure they have clean towels and their beds are made and we pick up their trash," said Kelly. "They really appreciate it what we do."

The rest of the St. Vincent staff say they take pride in their role as the NFL's best training camp.

"I've been a Steelers fan since I was 5-years-old and once I started working here and working with the Steelers, this is the best time of the year up here," said staff member Lori Hantz.

While the players report on Sunday, fans get their first chance to take in the action on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m.
