Rooney: "I Think Everything's Going To Work Out"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Steelers take to the field for their final preseason game tonight against the Carolina Panthers, but all the while, questions about the future of Steelers ownership remain unanswered.

KDKA's Alison Morris caught up with Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney today to find out where the ownership of the Steelers is headed following the meeting between he, his brothers and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

"The team is definitely going to be in Pittsburgh, we're ensuring that," said Rooney. "I think everything's going to work out, but … we're in a situation that's developing and until something's definite, you know, we don't really have much to say until then."

Currently, four of the five Rooney brothers own a 64 percent stake in the team. They fielded an offer to buy out their shares from billionaire investor and Steelers fan Stanley Druckenmiller.

Earlier this week, though, Goodell and the NFL made it clear they would like the team to remain a Rooney family affair.

"If Dan Rooney wants an opportunity to continue to run the franchise, I think that's an interest that some of the owners have," Goodell said.

On the meeting, Rooney said, "We met the commissioner, he did a fine job, he said he would be the spokesman for us, and I'm observing that."
