Art Rooney Jr: 'No Deal Imminent'

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The five Rooney brothers are trying to come up with a future ownership arrangement for the Steelers, but it appears that there is no special hurry to get this deal done.

One of the Rooney brothers, Art Rooney Jr., tells KDKA's Andy Sheehan no deal is imminent and the question could go unresolved for the entire football season.

On the phone this week he said: "I'm just content to sit back and enjoy the team. I don't see anything getting done for a while."

And the NFL is not pressuring the Rooneys for a quick resolution.

The league had ordered the Rooneys to divest themselves of their gambling interests -- and several of the brothers have already put those holdings in their children's names.

And while league rules demand that one owner hold at least a third of the team -- that does not apply to Dan Rooney who like his brothers owns only 16 percent.

Since that rule came in after the Rooney's ownership was established -- it is grandfathered and doesn't apply.
