Strong Performances Lift Steelers To 26-21 Win
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Despite a beaten and battered lineup, the Steelers head into the bye week with a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, 26-21.
The team came out on top thanks to solid performances. Ben Roethlisberger passed for 309 yards and three touchdowns.
He's been criticized for holding on to the ball for a little too long.
"Well it's that double-edged sword. You live by it, you die by it and sometimes it helps you and sometimes it hurts but tonight it helped in the time when we needed it," Roethlisberger said.
Running back Mewelde Moore ran for 99 yards on 17 carries.
"God has blessed me with being able to come in, you know, minute's notice and do the job," he said. "When I took this job, you know, that was one of the things that we definitely didn't want to happen but we talked about with Coach T and we already discussed this and that was definitely one of the things I've been preparing for, you know, the entire preseason."
This was the first time the Steelers beat Jacksonville since 2004.
The win lifts the Steelers to 4-1. They're comfortably atop the AFC North division, ahead of Baltimore who fell to 2-2.
